Culture Player is an initiative of the Dutch border, and Fabchannel FutureWeb which aims to support ten, mostly international, leading cultural institutions to 2008 in the strengthening of their Internet strategy. Culture Player provides knowledge and cooperation opportunities in the areas of:

• Technical innovation (the software side);

• Legal rights and use them (the legal side);

• Unique and high quality content (the creative side);

• An extended product lifecycle for the cultural

• Creating unique attractive product-market combinations (the commercial side);

• Combining an effective business model (business aspects).

The institutions in this project, the decision about software and content knowledge in particular Fabchannel the past five years has gained financial support from the Ministry of Education and the municipality of Amsterdam. 

The institutions were selected because of the spread between the various arts and culture disciplines and their national and international reputation as major players so that they can give a boost to a national rollout. 

That is good for the people in the city, good for the visitors who sometimes at great physical distance, good for the cultural environment and good for the creative economy in the Netherlands. The best possible use of Internet, the current investment in the cultural domain and further strengthens the cultural diversity shown to users in city, country and the world. That is good for the utilization of the institutions (new marketing), good for the introduction of the new range of groups, good for the international reputation of Amsterdam and good for extending the life cycle of cultural content.
